FHSU Chapter of TKE is designated Alpha Upsilon
Chapter Founding- April 18, 1942

The Fort Hays State University Alpha Upsilon chapter was founded April 18, 1942 by many interested men and flourished for the next few decades until the chapter became inactive during the 1970’s.  In the late 1980’s the chapter was reactivated by interested fraters and grew to the numbers ranging in the forties.  This was possible because of TKE International expansion projects this was made possible through the efforts of Dennis “Buckwheat” Perry, a TKE recruitment legend.

Over the next decade the chapter was consistently one of the largest Greek chapters on FHSU campus moving from the house at 410 W 7th to 209 W 5th in the mid 1990’s.  During the late 90’s TKE started to decline in membership and in late 2003 the chapter began to restructure itself to become a better TKE chapter.

In Fall 2004 the chapter found itself with only three members, they decided to rush as hard as they possibly could and pledged six men that fall.  Throughout the next few years the chapter has worked hard to change the image of TKE by giving back to the community, and to grow in size.

Shack a thon, Run for Reagan, Mary Elizabeth dart and poker tournament, blood drives, and Alzheimer’s Memory Walk are just a few ways that the chapter has tried giving back to a community that has given so much to them.

Currently the chapter does not have any housing near campus so we are using the Memorial Union for our meetings.

Currently the chapter finds itself with ten active members on FHSU's campus.  Through dedication to improving each others lives through their contributions in TKE the chapter hopes to steadily grow into the biggest fraternity at FHSU.
